Join Qutwo on our quest to bridge the gap between the classical and the quantum world. We unite Qutwo OS and world-class scientists with the most forward-looking enterprises to develop competitive edge through classical AI, hybrid, and full quantum systems.
We are a fast-growing team of 30 – a collective of leading experts building on deep interdisciplinary academic and industry expertise across quantum computing, AI, optimization, and simulation. We bring together the brightest minds ready to tackle the most challenging problems in AI computing.
We are looking for experienced Optimization Specialists. If you are passionate about applying mathematics to make a tangible, real-world impact, this is the right role for you.
Role Description
As a Optimization Specialist, you’ll work together with our team and customers full-time primarily from our Helsinki office (Maria01). The work includes modeling business processes, analyzing existing optimization pipelines, and naturally developing the actual optimization models. You will need to elicit stakeholder preferences (also known as ”discuss what the client needs to do”) and structure these into mathematical models, keeping in mind data availability and quality.
The deliveries include quantum exploration and/or actual implementation of parts of the optimization solution on a quantum computer. Your experience may also be needed in the development of Qutwo OS – the abstraction layer that enables seamless execution across quantum backends.
Qualifications we are looking for:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant post-PhD experience (or equivalent experience after an MSc)
- MSc or PhD in Operations Research, Systems Analysis, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, or an adjacent field
- Experience with using solvers such as CPLEX, Gurobi, XPress, SCIP, or similar
- Familiarity with integer optimization (MILP, CP) and common heuristics such as local search, simulated annealing, or ant colony optimization
- Understanding of how to define business problems as mathematical models
- Good communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical topics in layman’s terms
- Experience from production-grade optimization workflows
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus:
- Software development proficiency
- Familiarity with data science tools
- Understanding of how quantum annealing devices and quantum computing algorithms are utilized to solve optimization problems.
Practicalities
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and we encourage you to apply as soon as possible, as we are ready to hire when the right candidate is found.
